Acting As (として)

として specifically names the role someone is filling, distinct from just describing what they are. “Working として an announcer” frames it as a professional capacity, the position they occupy, rather than simply stating a fact about their identity.

として works just as naturally with objects as with people, describing a secondary or alternate function something can serve, “usable as a fork,” beyond its original intended purpose.

としてよく知られている, “well known as,” is a fixed pattern for describing reputation, pairing として with the passive 知られる to state what something is famous for being.
